Septic Tank Licensing
There are more than 440,000 septic tanks and wastewater treatment systems in Ireland. Poorly designed models, or those badly maintained, are polluting groundwater and putting health at risk.
On 29 Oct 2009, the European Court of justice ruled agains Ireland in relation to the disposal of waste from septic tanks and other onsite wastewater treatment systems (OSWTS). Ireland is subject to a lump sum fine of €2.7 million, plus a daily penalty of €26,173, if new legislation is not introduced immediately.
This new legislation will set out the responsibilities of households served by OSWTS, including:
- requirements to maintain their system correctly
- to have it regularly serviced
- requirements to carry out remedial works where necessary
We are in an ideal position to offer our services and expertise to homeowners to facilitate the licensing, monitoring, inspection and upgrading of onsite systems.
Anua can offer the complete package:
- affordable upgrades using simple, inexpensive - yet effective - products
- a broad range of certified wastewater treatment systems to satisfy all situations and customer budgets
