Overview
MÓNASORB dry scrubbing system
Anua's MÓNASORB dry scrubbing system is based upon a combination of the principals of adsorption and chemical oxidation.
Depending on the specific application, our carbon-based abatement technology can be utilised for the treatment of airstreams contaminated with low or infrequent concentrations of odorous or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), or as part of a combination of technologies to consistently achieve high odour abatement guarantees in both municipal and industrial applications.

Media
The carbon material for the MÓNASORB system can be supplied in granular or pelletised form. The granular carbon has an extremely large surface area, with an extensive pore structure that is ideal for absorbing a variety of organic gaseous contaminants.
The physical nature of the carbon, linked to our unique packing arrangement of this media within the MÓNASORB housing, results in a low differential pressure drop across the abatement system. This results in lower electrical running costs with the benefits of having an abatement system that will perform immediately and efficiently.
Anua mainly supplies two different carbon types:
- Activated carbon, suitable for general hydrocarbon abatement, and
- Impregnated activated carbons, for more specialised abatement requirements.
The MÓNASORB process absorbs a wide variety of chemical contaminant types making it suitable for the treatment of airstreams contaminated with varying chemical content and concentration. This removal ability makes it a true and flexible odour control system.
System design
The majority of dry media offered by Anua for MÓNASORB systems are primarily impregnated activated carbon types.
The base carbon, produced from coconut husks, wood or coal, is activated by subjecting it to a thermal process to optimise its available pore, resulting in an improvement in its adsorptive capacity for odours / VOC.
The high surface area of the carbon material allows for short contact times of between 1-5 seconds with a characteristic high removal efficient of >99%. With such a short retention time, the Mónasorb system has a small footprint with a low maintenance requirement.
